A Kowloon rail outing: Wong Tai Sin and Nan Lian Garden
Pair a temple visit with a garden walk using Wong Tai Sin and Diamond Hill stations on the Kwun Tong Line.
Planning ranges: WTS → DIH
Give two stops room to breathe
Wong Tai Sin and Diamond Hill make a compact rail pairing for an outing in Kowloon. Both are on the Kwun Tong Line, so the journey between them does not require a line change. The map link starts at Wong Tai Sin and ends at Diamond Hill; add your hotel or another starting station in the planner if you need the approach journey too.
Build the day around these two station areas rather than a long checklist. Rail convenience does not remove the walking between a station exit and the place you actually want to visit.
Visit Wong Tai Sin Temple
MTR’s neighborhood guide directs visitors to Wong Tai Sin Temple from exits B2 or B3. It describes a temple associated with Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Approach it as a place of worship as well as a visitor destination, leaving space for people who are there for religious practice.
Use the station signs to choose your exit before reaching the street. Once inside, follow current visitor notices and be considerate when taking photographs rather than assuming every part of the grounds is a photo stop.
Change pace at Nan Lian Garden
Continue to Diamond Hill for Nan Lian Garden. MTR identifies exit C2 for access and places the garden beside Chi Lin Nunnery. The garden’s traditional Tang-style landscape gives this second stop a different focus from the temple visit.
Leave time to look at the arrangement of paths, water and planted areas instead of treating the garden as a shortcut between landmarks. If you also want to visit the nunnery, check its own access arrangements on the day; proximity does not guarantee identical visiting hours.
Keep the walk and the railway separate
The map animation covers the rail connection between the two stations. It is not a turn-by-turn walking route through the temple or garden. Use the exits in the official neighborhood guide and local signs for those final approaches.
Bring the plan back to your own pace: a rest between the two sites, or choosing only one of them, is a reasonable outing. Before leaving, set your actual onward destination in the planner rather than automatically retracing the example journey.
